Writing without inspiration

Adok/Hugi

Exactly, this is a topic. And I am going to write an article about it now. So, before I get to the introduction: You see, this is a way of getting a topic and then writing an article about it. Just think of a random topic and see what comes out of it. Of course you could also brainstorm, but straight writing might be even more time-efficient. After all, if the article is good enough, you can already publish it.

But the topic of this article is different: Imagine you really have no topic in mind and want to write an article. And you do not even want to get a topic in mind. You do not want to brainstorm, you do not want to read an old diskmag and write a reply article, no, you do not want to look out for news on your favourite scene portal and write more about this matter after long research, and you definitely don't want to log onto IRC and talk until you get an idea. You just want to write an article, without thinking much. What is to do?

Writing an article is a creative process, in the sense of creating something. You can only create something if you know how to create it. Therefore, you have to know that you can create an article by opening a text editor and typing. But you must not type random things, you must type sentences, which consist of proper words properly arranged according to all grammatical rules.

If you had a topic in mind, you would now think about this topic and then type sentences that describe this topic and deal with it, so that finally you can draw the conclusion that your readers have learned something new by reading it.

If you have no topic in mind, you can still write proper English sentences. If you arrange random sentences, it may still seem to be a logical article. Perhaps your readers would not notice a difference from a well-thought article and still congratulate you for the fascinating thoughts you expressed, although you did not think much. Want an example? Then just read on. Here is an article which I wrote in the evening of February 21st, 2000.

The Necessity of the Truth

It is a true evidence that our wisdom fulfils the complacency of our hearts. We have since been unable to accept the resistance against our predominance in the Mongolian society. Hence, we enjoy the same rights as any human ape.

Nevertheless our question is whether the excellence of our undertakings has a chance to survive. It is not just that innocence outnumbers the achievements of mankind. They barely understood the mere necessity of our readiness to walk and stir up rage and hatred. As a consequence, the subsequent reaction was negative.

Moreover, we want to emphasize that the correlation between mankind and the biological influences on the atmosphere is dependent on the awareness of moral and ethical principles among the youth. Therefore we have to see to it that democracy is spread all over the world, reaches all countries and cultures and erases the differences between the ethnic groups.

Doesn't it sound like a highly scientific, philosophical, or even political treatise?

I guess you've got the idea.
