Setting up for a connection, logging in... waiting for server response... chatting: I was just thinking about who we are in the scene - who and what we represent here. I don't know if anyone of you has ever thought about the meaning of the word 'image' and its significance in our scene world. As we know, 'image' is a word taken from showbusiness and similar branches. It contains a description of yourself, of all your good sides and bad sides, especially concerning your personal successes, failures etc. Have you ever thought about your image in the scene? I think it's partly creatable by you. In showbusiness your image is created by media like TV, radio, papermagazines. Here, in the scene, the media are a little different, but very similar. Sorry if this sounds a little weird. I mean in the scene the media are internet, electronic magazines, email, snailmail etc. What's different is that showbusiness mostly uses video, audio, pictures, and of course words, while here it's almost only a word, sentences, letters, online chats on IRC, your own articles. If what you have done is interesting, if it is something others have accepted, then your reputation grows. So that creates your image. Have you ever thought about that from such a view? Mind it!

I would even give you the idea that our world is much more different from the other world, it's the cyberworld, but even here the image exists too, and fame can be its scale. Everything can happen. But what is the profit? Image can be blind. If everything can happen, you can be someone else than you are in the real world. Think about it. Different world, different image. It's like living two lives. One life is concerned about your real life, for example you are studying, have friends, go to disco every saturday, maybe even friday, in short: you do everything what real life is about. The second life comes after that: After school you sit at your computer, set up for connections, and you are in cyberspace, everybody knows you from another side. Here everything is concerned about art, about the scene matters, everything that we are interested in. How BIG is the difference? Or maybe there's no difference at all? Think about it. Different worlds? Different matters? Different images...??? Cyberworld, the world of YKSes..
