Hiya all!
I can now understand why the editorials in weekly newsletters that
are focused on a rather small range of topics are often very short:
there's really not much to say. :) But this issue was released two
weeks after the previous one. So shouldn't be there more to say?
Well, there is more to say - in the news section. So to draw a
logical conclusion: There's nothing to say in the editorial of a
newsletter. :)

RBi music vs. DJ Isabelle.
* Morphine of rbi music wrote in an open letter that he had
discovered that music from his fellow rbi member Neophite had been
ripped. A person called DJ Isabelle offered the track for download
on her homepage with the credits changed to her name. Morphine
contacted her, she apologized, and she promised to take down the
song and put up a public excuse. But Morphine could not find the
public excuse on her updated website.
* Morphine submitted this open letter to Hugi for its 20th issue as
well as various scene news sites. It was immediately published on
Orange Juice (http://www.ojuice.net/). Similar to the case of Jay
Newingham, who had claimed tunes from various top scene musicians
to be his own, this resulted in protest from various demosceners
against the rip. According to Orange Juice a lot of people posted
complaints to DJ Isabelle's guestbook, which she consequently
deleted.
* DJ Isabelle now had an open letter herself published on no-error
(http://www.error-404.com/noerror/). Herein she says that she
received this tune by someone else via email in Fasttracker format
with the plea to "finish" it. She thought that the track was
already "more than finished", so she only made some "personal
changes" to it and then uploaded it to her website. After she had
got mail from rbi music, she removed it immediately.
* Morphine thereupon told Jeroen of http://www.demoscene.org/ that
the track was not in XM (Fasttracker) format and that there had not
been a single change to the song in the version DJ Isabelle offered
on her website compared to Neophite's original.
* What makes this rip-affair stand out from others is that (according
to both DJ Isabelle's homepage and Morphine's open letter) DJ
Isabelle was already featured on a Dutch radio programme. The song
of which rbi music says that it's ripped was not played. But DJ
Isabelle's way of acting is still questionable for someone with a
semi-professional music career (no matter whether Morphine's or her
own version of the story is true).

Hornet soon back to full functionality?
* On comp.sys.ibm.pc.demos, Andy Voss (Phoenix of Hornet) reports:
"I have given www.hornet.org a little facelift, just to keep it up
to date. The archive is still closed, and the page content has
been further simplified. I (phoenix@hornet.org) should be the
contact for any content on the page. You can still contact
r3cgm@hornet.org about site administration (e.g. if the web site
down for some reason). Some new links have been added, and old ones
refreshed. I'd like to keep the number of links around where it is
now, but am certainly open to suggestions for better ones. That's
it for now. Further, minor updates may occur from time to time."
* The site says: "Under re-construction". May this implicate that
hornet.org will return to its full functionality, including
uploading files? To this, Phoenix told Adok on IRC: "Basically,
nothing is ruled impossible at this point, but re-opening the site
will take a lot of time and effort. I'll add some more info to the
web page as time goes by."
* Check out the site at http://www.hornet.org/.

maze pathfinder in x86 Assembler.
* Get them along with the sourcepack at http://www.hugi.scene.org/compo/.
* Polls in the Hugi Size Coding Competition mailinglist about the
object of the next size coding competition resulted in a preference
of some sort of animation, e.g. an analogue clock. The rules are
yet to be discussed, if you want to participate in the discussion,

Acumen releases Lore (extended remix).
* This message by Acumen reached me via email: "Hi there! .. I`ve
just released an extended remix of an earlier remix I did from one
of my most favorite Warder`s songs, Lore. This release is only a
"Re-release", and hopefully I will be able to finish a own NEW tune
with`in May 2000. This new remix came out of the blue, since a week
ago I was asked to do a longer remix of Lore so that it could be
used in Unreal Tournament`s "DM-Lore" level by James Neave ...
well, I thought I might aswell make it out as a public release.
Both IT and MP3 version are provided. See ya later! : )"

Scene Music CD news.
* Dan Wright of Fusecon (one of the founders of the Hornet Archive
and producer of the audiophonik CD) has posted "some random bits
and a plug or two" to comp.sys.ibm.pc.demos:
* "kosmic.org - Has moved on to mp3.com. I'm saddened to see Maelcum
go this route but he doesn't have much choice when the scene isn't
supporting him by purchasing CD's.
Traxinspace - Here is one I don't hear much about. But they got a
big plug by carrying some max payne music.
scope records - Gone. Had some problems with their record
distributor. Again, discovered it isn't easy running a scene label.
trsi recordz - Release muffler this year (great album) and another
couple good ones. But the only reason they are still around is
they have several other companies to help bring in money.
http://www.merregnon.com/ - Sounds like a promising CD with some
big scene names. But that doesn't mean much if no one purchase it.
audiophonik - We are still selling these at a slow pace via
www.fusecon.com and www.imphobia.org. Buy now and support the
scene!
People move on, I understand. But if you don't support the
scene..."
* Concerning the Merregnon project, the following message has been
posted to the related mailinglist: "Thank you for your interest in
'Merregnon'. During the following weeks we will offer information
about this project within regular periods. However, what we can
reveal for now is that the product will be a soundtrack - a CD
which will contain unreleased, exclusive material of all our
composers."

Ceibe (Spanish demoscene diskmag).

related technology.

Subkult (diskmag).
* Under the headline "Subkult #6 is out!!", Dr^Spock writes on Orange
Juice: "Twelve years overdue, but here it is, the ultimate diskmag.
The diskmag that made the demoscene, the diskmag that makes grown
sceners cry, the diskmags that knows how to kick a looser when he's
down, SUBKULT!"
* Subkult #6 is mainly in English but some articles are in Norwegian.
It mainly deals with Norwegian demosceners in a sarcastic, often
aggressive manner, and also contains some political statements that
may offend other people.
* Calvin of Proxima reports on Orange Juice (http://www.ojuice.net/)
that somebody has now threatened the Subkult editors with a
lawsuit. He says that he will post more information there when
available: "Obviously 'someone' was rather angry at Subkult staff
Dr Spock and Pop after their Subkult#6 release - talking about
making it police business. More later when I know."
* Subkult #6 can be downloaded in the diskmag archive of scene.org
(ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/mags/).

Juice).
